Kora Feder * October 7

Originally from Davis, California, singer/songwriter KORA FEDER has performed on stages across the world – only fitting for a woman with a Global Studies degree – from a special on Thai PBS in Bangkok, to town halls in Canada, and in northern California’s Strawberry Music Festival. There, Feder’s solo set was described as “brilliant and life-changing” by veteran music maker Joe Craven. In 2020, NPR’s All Songs Considered featured Feder’s Tiny Desk entry video, saying “Feder’s lyrics eloquently illustrate the full range of emotions many people are feeling in the era of the coronavirus pandemic.” Shortly afterward, her piece was referenced by the Washington Post in an article exploring the ways the pandemic has aged us all. Her album In Sevens spent four months on the US Folk Radio charts, and its Von Trapp-inspired single “I’d Be a Maria” has surpassed a million streams on Spotify.

In other media, Feder wrote and played for the podcast American Wasteland, musicalized an ad for El Cambio Trading Company, and spent a year as lead producer of From Day One, a podcast exploring the stories of Brooklyn-based entrepreneurs. This year Feder began working on a new record and resumed booking tour dates. She’s now based in Detroit, MI

REGGIE HARRIS has been described as a songwriter of great depth and passion, who writes from a personal sense of mission that merges a world-wise point of view with a singularly hopeful stance that life, though often challenging, is filled with possibility and hope.

A singer-songwriter, storyteller, educator and world-renowned song leader, Reggie has worked for over 40 years carrying the message of joy, unity, tolerance and peace through the powerful medium of live music and collaborative discourse. A 2021 winner of both the Spirit of Folk Award from Folk Alliance International and the W.E.B. Du Bois Legacy Award, Reggie is a charismatic community builder as a teaching artist in the Kennedy Center's CETA program (Changing Education Through the Arts) and a fellow for the prestigious Council of Independent College lecture program. He also serves as Co-President and Director of Music Education for the Living Legacy Project, an advocacy group that sponsors Civil Rights pilgrimages throughout the South and online education seminars worldwide.

His April 2021 release On Solid Ground is a collection of 13 songs compiled in response to the challenges stirred by the COVID pandemic and years of racial and political unrest that erupted post the murder of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and thousands of others.

According to Rabbi Jonathan Kligler, "Reggie Harris is part of the solution. His marvelous music, his hard-earned wisdom and his loving presence lift any room he enters. Give yourself and your community the gift of a transformative visit with Reggie Harris."

The Slambovian Circus of Dreams "Unplugged"

Flying Cat Music presents "The Slambovian Circus of Dreams "Unplugged" in a rare trio performance by founding members of the band Saturday, November 11th at 7:30 pm. Take a peek behind the "Slambovian Curtain" and experience the creative engine behind the band in this intimate performance. Voted "Best Band of 2022" in their home state of New York by Chronogram Magazine, the Slambovians' connection with audiences taps into a greater humanness. Charismatic frontman, Joziah presides center-ring with vocals "Soothing and bewitching as a snake oil tonic", joined onstage by founding bandmates Tink (accordion, cello, mandolin, flute) and the guitar-slinging skills of Sharkey McEwen, creating a show that constantly evolves "with a little help from their friends".

Hear rarely performed songs from their deep catalog and from "A Very Unusual Head" - among the "Best Albums of 2022" according to Rock’n’Reel Magazine, UK. Exploring the depths of Americana one trippy tune at a time, elements of Dylan, Bowie, Incredible String Band, Syd Barrett and The Waterboys flavor the musical mix. (Waterboys co-founder Anthony Thistlethwaite is featured on A Very Unusual Head). Woodstock-tinged psychedelia, a hint of southern rock and solid songwriting elevates this version of Americana to new heights.

THE SEA THE SEA (Chuck E. Costa and Mira Costa) are an Upstate New York-based indie folk-pop duo featuring what Bob Boilen (NPR’s All Songs Considered) calls “excellent harmonies” and the Huffington Post calls, “Two of the loveliest male-female voices you might ever hear this or any other year.” The group’s 2020 release, Stumbling Home, dubbed “otherworldly” by Rolling Stone marks the duo’s third full-length album, and the duo’s first primary recording/engineering credits on one of their albums, as well as that of co-producers—teaming up with recent Grammy and Tony award winner Todd Sickafoose (Hadestown, Anais Mitchell, Ani DiFranco, Andrew Bird).

Previous releases from The Sea The Sea - "Love We Are We Love” (2014), “In the Altogether” (2016 / EP), and “From The Light” (2018) - have been praised by outlets including NPR, American Songwriter, and No Depression, and the animated video for their song "Waiting" sparked viral interest from Buzzfeed and Pitchfork, as well as inclusion at the international TED 2015 conference. The band has garnered features across all music platforms including Apple Music’s “Best of the Week” and “A-List Singer/Songwriter,” gathering 20+ million streams on Spotify to date.

Live performance broadcast appearances of The Sea The Sea include Mountain Stage, whose host Larry Groce calls them "ready to take their place among the best young male/female duos now performing,” Audiotree, and Paste Music / Daytrotter where the duo was recently described as "defined by their infallible vocal harmonies and their unconventional song arrangements. The Sea The Sea is a pop band only in their melodic infectiousness—otherwise, they are at their best when subverting conventions."
